Can i get back into the military with a medical discharge?
Jonny K asked:
Almost 3 years ago i was honorably discharged medically after sustaining wounds while serving in the middle east. I wonder if there is any way i can rejoin the military now that i feel i have fully recovered. The only setbacks i question is that one, i was also diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder, and two, have been recieving disability since my release. I do however have an outstanding military record.
Anyone with any answers it would be much appreciated…

Depends on your level of disability.
You will go back to MEPS for a complete physical with a consultation for the PTSD, and any other “issues”. It will not be easy and it will not happen overnight.
Don’t forget you will also sign a statement that your disability payments will be suspended while you are on active duty. Once you complete your active duty, make sure you get a complete physical!

If you’ve fully recovered, you shouldn’t be receiving disability anymore. That should also include PTSD treatment.
Give a try you should be able to.

I do not know personally I would contact the military branch you served with and get a true yes or no. I wish you the best and I thank you for you service to this great nation Thank you.

You will have to give up that VA disability payment. As for whether you have recovered enough to be fit for duty once again, you might want to take a look at the link below. The standards for entry and re-entry are in Chapter Two. That will tell you if the effects of your being wounded are a barrier to re-joining.

Your DD FM 214 should have your elegibility code right on it…just call a recruiter and they’ll tell you where to look and let you know.

If they feel you are no longer aboe to serve, it is not likely, but you can try.
