They are full of it. The VA and the Military use the same rating scheme and both are rated. Make sur they understand you will appeal. If they seperate you, RUN not Walk to the VA and file a claim. If they issue you a rating file an SF 149 with the board of corrections.Contact the DAV too. They can help you with the VA.

FANCHON

I work at a VA hospital and believe me, you can be rated for PTSD. If you served in combat or just in Iraq for that matter, you will probably be rated at 100%. But like someone else said on here, it depends on how functional you are.
Just keep all your records together and make sure to never give anyone the originals. Make copies to give to the doctors at the VA. Don't want them lost in the shuffle. Good Luck with the process.

DELANEY

It may depend on how functional you are. A friend of mine collects but he was admitted to the psychiatric ward several times and had one suicide attempt. He was not able to function with his ptsd. Also it was pre existing before deployment and you were found to be fit for duty at that time or you would not have deployed. That may have to do with the determination. You always have the right to a Medical review Board for any condition. Keep in mind that their decission is final until you are out and appeal to the Vets Administration. Even then there is no guarantee.

THORNTON

Do yourself a favor, request a Formal Physical Evaluation Board, call your Congressman and get them involved (Both of your Senators and your House Rep...go down the line untill someone engages you in conversation and helps.)
The MEB is a local thing and shouldn't be trusted... they are nothing but a bunch of command lap dogs.
