1955… To Hell and Back was the first movie and first date with my future husband. He joined the ARMY serving for 26 years. Two tours in VN. People like Audie Murphy have a special place in my heart.

Thank you for posting. There are no words…
Audie Murphy…A true American hero.
thank him for all who can’t make that trip.. nice video.. thanks, 6 uncles served ww2 wish the last two alive were able to share their stories without the hell..
yeah, to bad not many people know about him.
I think he got the Medal of Honor for stopping a big german attack.
he and his squad were at a defensive position when they were attacked by armor and supporting infantry. After the platoon sustained a number of casulties, he stayed behind while the rest of the men retreated. He held them off by using a .50 cal. machine gun on a still burning sherman tank while calling in artillery strikes over the radio.
He’s a true american soldier/hero.
my grandpa got the purple heart in WWII.
Got a piece of grenade stuck in hsi leg.
Sadly, very few Americans living today know anything about Audie Murphy.
i have a few medals that were my dads.
I own a WWII Victory Medal just like the one at 4:10.
glad you liked it.
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing.
i hope to get down there this year. i am going to make sure i see his stone.
Audie Murphy is truly one of the great fighting men in modern times. A testament to the old Marine saying: “It’s not the size of the man in the fight, but the size of the fight in the man.” When I visited the US in 2000, I went to Washington, and took a tour of Arlington cemetary. I skipped JFKs grave not to miss the changing of the guard at the grave of the Unknown soldier. By coincidence I noticed Audie Murphys stone right next to the path there. Awe-inspiring moment..
Audie’s a bad ass dude.
He will always be our hero!
In the movie To Hell and Back, it shows Audie at the induction centers and being turned down. Some of Audie`s war buddies claim that Audie only told half of his T.H.&B. story. Audie was a humble man and did not want to mention his other heroic deeds while at war.
It is too bad that Audie did not receive enough help for the trauma he experienced in WWII.
i read some of it. the other branches did not want him .they said he was to small.guess he never tried the air force. my dad was in the airforce .a gunner in the b-17 and he was smaller than murphy.
cool vid. thx. Check out wikipedia for the bio on Audie. That is a guy who never considered defeat in any way in his life.
