Requesting Military Records Archives

Ruby asked:

I was just wondering this
Like if you go to the hospital and get a rape kit done on you and police were involved and so on and so on, does it go on record?
Are there any links you can provide for me with information on whether they go on record or not?

OK, so I figure getting a waiver is too precarious and also my doctor is anti-war. Which means he is not going to sign any medical waivers for joining the forces.
I have wanted to serve my country since I was a little kid (I wasn’t even born here, but I have known to thank the USA since I was five) and especially as a fighter pilot or an astronaut. My doctors said I was ADD (because that’s what they say you are when you say you want to be an astronaut) and then they put me on Speed for Kids.
Now I am in college, and I want to transfer to Embry-Riddle or Ohio State next year after I get my Associates’ Degree and my Private Pilot’s License (which will be beneficial for going to the first school) and take AFROTC or NROTC. I know my doctor probably isn’t going to like my decision, and he’s already told me that I’m pretty much screwed for life. He calls me psychotic, and he’s anti-war. He believes I am being suicidal because I want to serve my country.
I want to purge my records. But how?

To make a long story short, there is a possibility that I might get an Admin Separation from the Marine Corps due to my mental state and the medication that I’m currently on. I have to meet with a Psychiatrist who will ultimately determine whether or not I’m fit for full duty. If they decide that I’m not, how much info about my situation can they tell my command other than: “This Marine is not fit for full duty?” Also, how much information am I required to tell my command about the meeting?

I am 17 years old, and last year i was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. I was never depressed i was just looking for attention ( yea, childish I know). I want to join the military, but according to the standards I can’t if I have any “current” depression illnesses. I was wondering if there were anyway to be cleared from this diagnoses or if i can get it removed from my medical records, or anything that will help me be one step closer to qualifying for the military.

requesting military records
BTDT asked:

At the time of requesting records, I only knew of his enlistment to Navy in 1933, but have since heard from his cousin that he also enlisted in Army later. Not sure if I believe that. Would this come up in his military files? I only had SS# at the time of his death. Was sent record request with his service # I assume of his Navy duty. If he served in Army as well, would all records be under same service # or would there be two separate service numbers and files?

requesting military records
Melanie R asked:

I was in the Army and got out 2003. I became a dependent, and at that time the clinic I was assigned to on Fort Bragg changed, and also a new folder was made for my medical records. I had maybe 4 or 5 appointments at my husband clinic that I was assigned to. My doctor wanted to have my active duty records transferred to the clinic where I was then assigned to. So that was done, during one appointment was signed out by the same doctor, and of course they remained at the clinic. Remember now I got out of active duty in 2003. So I was lazy about starting my disability claim, after it was denied when I got out. My husband got out of the Army in 2004, so at that point I was in school, trying to focus on him being home from Iraq. In 2005 I finally refiled my disability claim. I had a few issues while I was in, I really didn’t see why my claim was denied in the first place. I even had surgery too…imagine that. So I got a letter back from VA stating that my records couldn’t be located. So I did a request for the location of my records in St.Louis. Received another stating that my records weren’t there either. So by then I knew something was wrong. So then we rolled into 2006. I went to the last clinic on Bragg that I was assigned. The records were being prepared to be sent to St.Louis. I asked about my husband records, his were still at the clinic too.Now too me that seem a little delayed being that I had been out 3 years and he had been 2 years. So when she checked my records that were being sent, the file was only my dependent file. Come to find out my active duty file was nowhere to be found. I called Womack hospital, Robeson and Joel clinic on Bragg…nothing. I called IG, no luck, I called different personnel in the Records dept on Bragg, no luck either. I’ve called VA numerous times, ridiculous what they say to you. I am just stuck, My body has been jacked up ever since I was in the military and had surgery, and honestly some other things are wrong as well. I just don’t know what to do at this point. I need some help. Please if someone has some advice…
