2010 US Military Basic Pay Charts

On December 19, 2009, the Senate passed and President Obama signed into law, the appropriations bill to pay for the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010 that the president signed back on October 28, 2009, which stated, “Increase in Basic Pay Effective on January 1, 2010, the rates of monthly basic pay for members of the uniformed services are increased by 3.4 percent.”
The 2010 pay raise amount, as a point of interest, effects those enlisted personnel who will hit the 30 year high year tenure (HYT) mark as those members are the last to have joined under the “final pay” retirement system.

President Obama had released in his budget, on May 7, 2009, a military pay raise proposal of 2.9% for 2010. The raise amount utilized the same methodology of the previous administration of using the Employment Cost Index (ECI) published by the Department of Labor. As in previous years, congress increased the amount by a half percent, and as stated above, the president agreed to the increase.
